The shift in geopolitics and towards decolonising global development practices calls for countries and regions to rethink their development funding practices. The current funding culture is entangled with colonial histories and one-sided storytelling, hindering the potential of local-knowledge-driven development practices and pushing incorrect narratives about Africa. Over-relying on foreign funding subordinates local expertise and keeps Africa in the development loop, and with current global volatility, grassroots innovations are exposed to layered vulnerabilities that slow down or reverse progress. The Circle Africa exists to promote local funding for local solutions, accelerating context-driven development practices across Africa.
